When God Speaks Through the Ordinary: A Message of Being Held, Not Crushed

God Speaks Through All Things

God speaks through all things because He is in all things. He is the Creator of the universe and the Creator of you and I. His relationship with us is deeply personal, fully intentional, and never lacking. He speaks in ways our hearts will recognize. Have you ever noticed how God often uses the most ordinary things to reveal extraordinary messages? Even something as simple as… eggs? In a dream, the Holy Spirit whispered to me what I like to call The Egg Parable.

Bought, Set Apart, and Kept Whole

Do you remember when egg prices were the highest in early 2025? Not to mention how surprising it was to see an everyday staple suddenly seem like gold! Yet, in a way, the high prices only highlighted what was always known, that eggs were valuable all along, even when we took them for granted.

Just as eggs can seem ordinary until they become expensive, we too can forget our worth in Him. To buy a carton of eggs is costly, and in the same way, you and I were bought by the precious blood of Christ. There is no one more worthy, more valuable, more costly than Jesus. Once you receive Him wholeheartedly, He is now in you. His very spirit now dwells within you. Do you know what that means? You were bought at the highest cost, your value to Christ is immeasurable!

The cost is so great, so purposeful in every imaginable way, he sets us aside, for holiness, for purpose and to protect us from the deceitful pleasures in the world. The pleasures that can crush us, keep us from walking in His purpose. Just as eggs are carefully set aside so they aren’t crushed, we are set apart so we can walk with Him, fully in His care.

Walking the Narrow Path

Being set apart is not without sacrifice. Christ sacrificed Himself for the entire world, and since we are made in His image, we too must sacrifice and die to our own desires, serving one another in love. Walking with Him is costly because it requires giving up comfort, selfishness, and the pleasures of this world. It requires patience, obedience, and sometimes carrying pains we did not choose. Doing what is right is never easy, because choosing God’s will often goes against our fleshly nature. Every day will be a struggle to walk in righteousness and deny our fleshly desires, until we find rest in His presence, our eternal home. As Paul reminds us, “ I want to do what is right, but I can’t.  I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway” (Romans 7:18). This shows that the struggle is real, and why we need His Spirit to strengthen and guide us along the narrow path.

Strengthened by His Spirit

Yet the more you walk intimately with Him, the more you are strengthened by His Spirit. The closer you draw to Him, the more you will hate sin and long for holiness. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later (Romans 8:18) And the cost of it all will be revealed in His glory. Our burdens and struggles bring us to the feet of the Most High God and honestly there is no greater place to be. We cannot fully experience His love without the pains of this life. And you cannot truly love Him, until you truly know Him. And when you truly know Him, He will be enough for you. You will long for Him and His beauty, taking time to run into His presence and soak in His love.

He Is the Ladder

He is the ladder between heaven and earth. He connects us to the Father, and is always near. And He fights for you in every unseen battle –Ephesians 6:12

And he said to him, “Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” – John 1:51

These trials and tribulations that Jesus spoke about reveal our deep need for Him, allowing God to show His sovereignty and bring us into His grace.

The Cost is Worth it All

Walking with Christ is not easy, but the reward outweigh the cost. He is the reward. Every trial, every sacrifice, every moment of denying our own desires is part of the journey He calls us to. None of it goes unnoticed, everything matters to Him. The joy, peace, and the eternal reward of being fully His far surpasses anything we give up. Every burden, every struggle, every moment of obedience draws us closer to Him, revealing the immeasurable worth of being in His presence.

He sets us aside and carries us in His loving arms, just as eggs are set aside, gently cared for to protect them from being crushed. Christ knew the weight of it all, and promised to sustain you, keeping you whole as you take up His yoke.

The most beautiful part is that He never wanted you to walk alone. When Jesus said that he is leaving you a helper, he meant it:

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. – Matthew 11:28–30

What a comfort it is to know that we are held tight by his faithfulness and can rest. Rest in Him today. Let Him carry what you were never meant to hold.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you guide us into your eternal glory, bringing us safely home into your arms. May our hearts burn more for you than our own desires. May we walk each day obedient, remembering that we are your treasured possession, and dearly loved by you, God. I ask that you give us the understanding of your Joy and that we may behold it and walk in it daily. Thank you for your rest, oh God. I love you, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
